Institute is as concerned about your good health as it is with your educational
development.
The Institute provides four resources for
health care services:

- The Student Health Insurance: The
Caltech Student Health Insurance Plan ($639 per term included in the
mandatory student fees) is a comprehensive plan, which is designed
specifically to meet the unique health care needs of Caltech students, and
supplements the services offered at the on-campus Health and Counseling
Centers. This arrangement eliminates the need for pre-approval of
services often associated with other health plans, reduces delays in care,
and ensures effective communication and treatment between the Health and
Counseling Center staff and specialists in the community. For a look

1. Why is the Caltech Student Health Insurance Plan part of the
mandatory student fees if I am
covered by my parents' plan already?
By including all
students in a health plan of Caltech's design, we can be assured that you
participate in comprehensive, universal
health care program. This means that:

The health insurance plan combined with the services
provided by the Caltech Health and Counseling Centers ensures that you have
comprehensive medical and psychological care available whenever you need it
- whether you are on campus, participating in Caltech off-campus activities,
at home, or traveling;

Your health care coverage will be in effect during the
entire time you are registered at Caltech;

You have access to network doctors, hospitals and
other health care providers who are familiar with the needs of students, and
who are located near campus
2. Is there a separate fee for
using the on-campus Health and Counseling Centers?
No. There is no
separate charge for using the on-campus Health and Counseling Centers
and no charge of any kind of services at
the Counseling Center or with the Health Education
program. There are a few fees for lab
services and medications received at the Health
Center.
3. How much should I budget to
cover the cost of the Caltech student health insurance
premium next academic year?
The health insurance
premium is included in the student fees, which are already listed for
2008-2009. There is no separate
charge.

4. I have applied for
