Meningitis
One dose for college freshmen
living in undergraduate houses or residence halls, persons with terminal
complement deficiencies, or asplenia is required.
Non freshmen college students
under 25 years of age may choose to be vaccinated to reduce their risk of
meningococcal disease.
The tetravalent conjugate (Menactra))
is preferred. Vaccination with tetravalent polysaccharide (Menomune) is an
acceptable alternative if the conjugate preparation is not available. The date
of administration should be within 3-5 years prior to start of school.
A meningitis letter was sent
out to all students and we encourage everyone to read it. If you have any
questions, please contact the Student Health Center at 626-395-6393.
